Process_Description: After receiving a report of a confirmed zebra mussel sighting, the location was found on a paper map. The scale of that map varied; we used the finest resolution available. The point was then digitized on- screen using Arc/INFO's arcedit feature, and was referenced to EPA Reach File Version 3.0 1:100,000-scale data (Arc/INFO coverages in Albers Equal Area Projection).

Process_Description: The National Atlas received the data file from the Florida Caribbean Science Center in Arc/INFO export format, and it was read into Arc/INFO and converted to Geographic coordinates. The file was compared to the Streams and Waterbodies data layer, and several points were adjusted to fall on water features rather than on land. The data set was converted to shapefile format.

Process_Description: Additional points were appended to the data set. Points were compared to the Streams and Waterbodies data layer, and several points were adjusted to fall on water features rather than on land. Also, the file was compared to the County Boundaries layer to verify the county and State where zebra mussels were located.

Process_Description: Additional points were appended to the data set. Points were compared to the Streams and Waterbodies data layer, and several points were adjusted to fall on water features rather than on land. Also, the file was compared to the County Boundaries layer; several points were adjusted to fall in the correct county and State as listed in their location descriptions. Attribute items that had specified the age classification and substrate to which the specimen was attached were dropped.
