Description:
Abstract: This dataset contains polygons showing the extent all sewer systems in the Cayuga Lake Watershed as of September 2007, based upon data provided by individual municipalities in the watershed.
Purpose: This geographic dataset was developed by the Cayuga Lake Watershed Network as part of a larger project, in conjunction with Dr. Douglas Haith and Cornell University, to model nutrient loading in the Cayuga Lake watershed. The model used is the Generalized Watershed Loading Function (Haith and Shoemaker, 1987). Haith, D.A. and L.L. Shoemaker, 1987. Generalized Watershed Loading Functions for Stream Flow Nutrients. Process_Description: Hardcopy maps of sewer lines, water lines, and sewer districts were obtained from some local municipalities. Other municipalities were only able to indicate the extent of their sewer systems on printed road maps. Tompkins County was able to provide a digital copy of a map showing the extent of the current and proposed sewer systems in Tompkins County. The hardcopy maps were referenced to derive geospatial data layers indicating the locations of sewer lines, water lines, and sewer districts throughout the watershed. The geospatial data layers derived are assumed to be complete and accurate.
