Title: Index of 2-meter DEM, Tompkins County NY, 2008
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: raster digital data
Description:
Abstract: This is an index of 2-meter DEM tiles for Tompkins County, New York. Derived from a
LiDAR point survey collected May 4-13, 2008, the data values represent bare earth elevation
in meters, vertical datum NAVD1988 (GEOID09). Each downloadable tile covers a 1500m x 1500m
area.
Purpose: This data allows users to get elevations, create contours, and perform other tasks
that require detailed elevation, and also supports FEMA's Floodplain Map Modernization
Program.

Use_Constraints: None. However, users should be aware that changes may have occurred since the source
data were collected in 2008, and that some parts of this dataset may no longer represent
actual surface conditions. Users should not use this data for critical applications without a
full awareness of its limitations.
Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report: The nominal point spacing of the source LIDAR is 1.4 meter (1.4m GSD), and ground
points were aggregated to 2-meter pixels.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Completeness_Report: The 601 tiles collectively cover most of Tompkins County, with the exception of some
areas in the southeast, near Tioga County.

Process_Step:
Process_Description: In the spring of 2008, Tompkins County tasked Pictometry International Corp. to
acquire 513 square miles of terrestrial LiDAR data (1.4m NPS) in Tompkins County, NY. A
Optech ALTM Gemini 3100 LiDAR system was used for the collection. The LiDAR data
associated with this metadata file is in LAS binary format, version 1.1 (ASPRS
specification, see Cross References).
Process_Date: 2008
Process_Step:
Process_Description: The 2 meter DEM was created by NYS ITS GIS Program Office and reprojected to UTM
NAD 83 Zone 18 (extended for New York State), meters and vertical datum of NAVD1988
(GEOID09), meters. The Raster DEM was then clipped to 1500m x1500m tiles using Blue Marble
Geographics Global Mapper with an ERDAS IMG file format.
